I am a character animator specializing in 3D animation. I grew up in a small town in the Midwest where I first became interested in cartoons, film, and art in general. Knowing little of the process by which animation was brought to life, my curiosity grew over time until I finally began studying animation after high school. I spent most of my teenage years refining my drawing skills, which would later serve as a foundation for my animation understanding. As time went on, I developed an increasingly strong appreciation for comedy among other art forms. Animation can be done in a many different ways with widely varying purposes and styles, but I have always been closely drawn to comedic animation above anything else. I love using animation as a means of telling jokes in addition to stories because a well animated shot has to potential produce an extremely strong visual punchline that brings howling laughter to a multitude of people.
One of my favorite things about animation is how it combines so many different creative disciplines. As an animator, I get to be a performer, a choreographer, a cinematographer, and more. Animation allows an artist to live vicariously through a character in order to bring him/her to life, and it is a process I deeply enjoy. Animation allows an artist to create scenes of powerful drama, intense action, hilarious comedy, or anything else that can be imagined; it is one of the most versatile and dynamic art forms I have ever encountered, and I plan to spend my life studying and practicing it.
