Sine Özbilge
Grand Prize Award Winner Supernova Competition 2020
21XOXO is a surreal and humorous reflection on the 21th century youth. The story is about a girl and her online search for love in times of social media, speed dating, cyberlove, hipster culture and post-net attitudes. The protagonist takes us on a journey through a
colorful and bizarre imaginary world filled with absurd, surreal and metamorphic scenes.
Artist Bio:
Sine creates obscure worlds where subconscious desires, conflicts and struggles metamorphose into absurd and surreal artworks. These often have a mixed media basis where animation and live-action metamorphose in order to explore new connotations and stylistic forms. Her work focuses on Femininity, the Freudian Subconscious, our Post-Net Era and Albert Camus’ theory of Absurdism. Her characters have a certain naivety that contrast with the b&w visuals and the realism of the Rotoscope Technique.
