Two monstrous avatars of humanity's future emerge/dissolve into states of Edenic grace and the singularity of machine learning 'consciousness'. The title is a play on Darwin's text "On the Origin of Species" -- substituting the word "speccies", in reference to the science-fiction subgenre of so-called 'speculative biology' which imagines polymorphous possibilities and adaptabilities for the future of the body.
The video is intended for looping exhibition display (gallery or online) and multiple viewings -- so if it seems weird not having a proper beginning & ending -- this is why.
Written & produced in part while in residence at the Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts.
